Shadow Stalker Bundle Blitz Feature

Character Guest Post by Drevin
The Corruption of the Shadow Stalkers

I was born a shadow stalker. I grew up blissfully unaware of their corruption from birth. My foster parents raised me well and with a lot of love, but then our Foramar, Zain, shared with me a horrible truth. My parents had mated against the will of the shadow people. They had been separated before my birth, and I was taken from my mother as soon as I was born and brought to Zain.

He was supposed to kill me, but spared my life because he didn't have the heart to kill an innocent child. Of course, I will be forever grateful for his mercy, but when I dreamt his firstborn child with his wife, Frai, would enslave the people of the Serpent Isle, he dismissed my concern as though it meant nothing. None of the shadow stalkers took my warnings seriously, with the exception of a few of the elders.

When I suggested the child should be killed at birth, I was exiled. I knew then the shadow stalkers had been corrupted by the shadow people, our creators. They wanted me, an innocent, killed at birth, but would spare the life of monster. I don't know what plans the shadow people have for the human race, but I am convinced it's not benevolent. I had always wondered why only the Foramar knew the reason the shadow stalkers had been created. I had come to realize the only way the shadow people would be able to control the shadow stalkers would be to limit the knowledge of their true purpose.

I could not allow this to continue. The people of the Serpent Isles deserved to live their lives in peace, but when the shadow stalkers made their move, with their delohi-saqu leading them, those innocent people would never know freedom again. So I started the Way of the Galvadi. The word, Galvadi, is from the shadow language meaning "divine". Through my teachings, the human race can be saved from the corruption of the shadow stalkers.

What It Means To Be Foramar

By Kado, Foramar of the shadow stalkers

I have spent my life training to be the next Foramar for the shadow stalkers, but it wasn't until I was forced into the position under grave circumstances that I finally appreciated what it really meant. It's so much more than being a leader of my people. The shadow stalkers were created by the shadow people for a very specific purpose. I have not been Foramar long enough to fully comprehend that purpose, but I do know that the survival of the human race is at stake, and we were created to assure our species does not become extinct.

There are legends that our race once existed in the billions, and it's possible we may have even originated from another world. If that's the case, I imagine some disaster must have caused us to leave our home world. It's likely most of our species died in that time, and we are the descendants of the only survivors. As it is, our species can only survive on a small portion of our world, the Serpent Isles. This lastest war with the Galvadi has decreased our population to below one million. If things continue as they are, it could be much less than that within months.

The survival of the entire human race now rests in my hands. Auren is the key to our survival, but she is out of my reach for now. If she doesn't survive or if she is lost to us, what hope do we have? The shadow people can only do so much for us.

I see now the importance of following their code. If I, as Foramar, do not uphold that code to the very letter, it could be disastrous for us all. Zain has learned that the hard way and now his daughter is paying the price for his lapse in judgment. If we survive this crisis, I and every future Foramar will need to learn from his mistake, so it is not repeated.

The Foramar is more than a leader and guide for the shadow stalkers. He is the father of all mankind.

Synopsis

Auren escapes the Dark Isle to find things are worse on Appolia than she imagined. Very few have survived the invasion of the Galvadi Empire, and even her best friend, Jade, has gone missing.

While attempting a rescue, Auren is captured and faces abuse and torture at the hands of her enemies. She knows as long as she can hide her true identity, she might succeed in helping the Coalition, but one of the Galvadi knows she is the delohi-saqu. For his silence, she is forced to pay the ultimate price.

Shadow Stalker Double Feature Tour -Guest Post

My NaNoWriMo 2014 Experience

By Renee Scattergood

When I decided to write Demon Hunt, I wasn't sure if I wanted to actually participate in NaNoWriMo because I knew it was going to be a relatively short novella and I wasn't starting a full length novel anytime soon. Plus I needed Demon Hunt done by the end of December so I could offer it as a holiday/New Year's gift.

I really wanted to participate, though, so I figured I'd write a few of the Shadow Stalker episodes as well to boost my work count. I mean, they're all a part of the same story anyway, so what does it matter that they are separate publications? So that's what I did.

I set my daily word count goal to 2500 words so I could get ahead in case I missed a few day. It's a good thing too. Around the middle of the month I had some personal issues to take care of and I ended up falling behind even though I had been at least 7 days ahead in my word count.
