Guest Post w/ Renee Scattergood

Shadow Stalker Bundle Blitz Feature

Character Guest Post by Drevin
The Corruption of the Shadow Stalkers

I was born a shadow stalker. I grew up blissfully unaware of their corruption from birth. My foster parents raised me well and with a lot of love, but then our Foramar, Zain, shared with me a horrible truth. My parents had mated against the will of the shadow people. They had been separated before my birth, and I was taken from my mother as soon as I was born and brought to Zain.

He was supposed to kill me, but spared my life because he didn't have the heart to kill an innocent child. Of course, I will be forever grateful for his mercy, but when I dreamt his firstborn child with his wife, Frai, would enslave the people of the Serpent Isle, he dismissed my concern as though it meant nothing. None of the shadow stalkers took my warnings seriously, with the exception of a few of the elders.

When I suggested the child should be killed at birth, I was exiled. I knew then the shadow stalkers had been corrupted by the shadow people, our creators. They wanted me, an innocent, killed at birth, but would spare the life of monster. I don't know what plans the shadow people have for the human race, but I am convinced it's not benevolent. I had always wondered why only the Foramar knew the reason the shadow stalkers had been created. I had come to realize the only way the shadow people would be able to control the shadow stalkers would be to limit the knowledge of their true purpose.

I could not allow this to continue. The people of the Serpent Isles deserved to live their lives in peace, but when the shadow stalkers made their move, with their delohi-saqu leading them, those innocent people would never know freedom again. So I started the Way of the Galvadi. The word, Galvadi, is from the shadow language meaning "divine". Through my teachings, the human race can be saved from the corruption of the shadow stalkers.

Bound by Fate

By Renee Scattergood

Book Review

Auren finds herself finally on her own after escaping capture in the Shadow Stalkers homeland. She leaves behind her foster father/mentor Kado, leaving herself in emotional turmoil wondering what has become of him. However, Auren isn’t out of danger just yet.

She has found out from an old friend from high school that her best friend Jade has been captured. On a rescue mission Auren will find herself in the clutches of those that she sought to escape capture.  Trying to keep her sanity and from being brainwashed against her own people she tries to find a way to save her friend, father and the Serpent Isles.

The unfathomable happens when her mother’s prophecy unfolds before her eyes. Bound by Fate is by far the beginning of the dark climax that will propel Auren’s series forward. Her allies far away and a foe that could turn into so much more by a connection the Shadow Stalker’s designed. Auren will be in the fight for her life that will keep you all coming back for more.

If you are a fan of suspense, adventure and a bit of torture this is defiantly a fantasy book you want to get your hands on. Bound by Fate is the beginning of part two but even if you start now you will find yourself wanting to head back to the beginning for all the juicy details that Mrs. Scattergood puts into all her episodes.

Always, leaving me speechless and wanting more this novella is by far my favorite in this series to date. I am defiantly hands down giving Mrs. Scattergood FIVE stars for this episode and a big high five for a job well done.

The Grimm Chronicles: Pretty Things ~Book Review

The Grimm Chronicles
Pretty Things
By: Christine Haggerty

Blurb

When Maddie's father catches her with a boy, he hauls her into town in a pig wagon and finds her a husband. But Peter's cabin in the woods promises something very different than Maddie's happily ever after.

Pretty Things, a retelling of "The Robber Bridegroom," is the first novella in the Grimm Chronicles series. Warning: not your granny's fairytales!

Review

Christine Haggerty takes a jab at The Grimm’s fairytale “The Robber Bridegroom”. She retells the story in a twisted new light, giving a new breath of life into this old fairytale. Just remember folks this is not the same fairytale you are all use too!

Maddie is by far one of the biggest brats you will come to see. Thanks to a mother that passed when she was young in child birth she was raised alone by her father the Miller. He did what any loving father would do…spoiled her rotten.

Her world gets thrown upside down when her father witnesses an event that drives him to the brink. Maddie then is put on the fast track to growing up as she faces evils she never thought possible.

Haggerty leads you into a tale of darkness, fear, sorrow and triumph. The tale itself stands on its own well and even though it is a retelling Haggerty has done a fantastic job making this tale her own.

Strongly recommended to those that love dark fantasy, a hint of romance and watching a spoiled girl grow up in the face of fear and death. It is a page turner that you will re-read over and over again.

4.5/5

BECOME~Book One in Desolation Series by Ali Cross~Book Review

Synopsis

Sixteen-year old Desolation Black wants nothing more than to stay in Hell where it’s cold and lonely and totally predictable. Instead, she’s sent back to Earth where she must face the evil she despises and the good she always feared.

When Desi is forced to embrace her inner demon, she assumes her choice has been made—that she has no hope of being anything other than what her father, Loki, has created her to be. What she doesn’t count on, is finding a reason to change—something she’s never had before—a friend.

Ali Cross takes a spin off the Norse gods mythology, creating a new take bringing them into the modern era. Cross creates a beautiful world touched with deep darkness that brings out her strong characters.

The character building is empowering allowing each character to expand and change in negative or positive light. Cross is by far a master of fight scenes leaving you craving for the next blow, and gasping as you yourself feel the pain of the attacks. The heartache leaves you cringing hoping for the best, knowing a happy ending must be coming.

But as all great authors do…they love to leave a twist at the end making you hunger for book two. I for one am strongly in love with Greek, Egyptian and Norse mythology. Cross’s take on the battles and victories Loki and Odin have are exciting to the core.

If you are a strong lover of Percy Jackson and the Olympians you find yourself at home in this book. This novel is more for the new adult audiences bringing a more mature nature to the sins mankind face under Loki’s watchful eye. But I trust know matter what your age you will find enjoyment from “Become” the first in Ali Cross’s Desolation Series.
