Bound by Fate

By Renee Scattergood

Book Review

Auren finds herself finally on her own after escaping capture in the Shadow Stalkers homeland. She leaves behind her foster father/mentor Kado, leaving herself in emotional turmoil wondering what has become of him. However, Auren isn’t out of danger just yet.

She has found out from an old friend from high school that her best friend Jade has been captured. On a rescue mission Auren will find herself in the clutches of those that she sought to escape capture.  Trying to keep her sanity and from being brainwashed against her own people she tries to find a way to save her friend, father and the Serpent Isles.

The unfathomable happens when her mother’s prophecy unfolds before her eyes. Bound by Fate is by far the beginning of the dark climax that will propel Auren’s series forward. Her allies far away and a foe that could turn into so much more by a connection the Shadow Stalker’s designed. Auren will be in the fight for her life that will keep you all coming back for more.

If you are a fan of suspense, adventure and a bit of torture this is defiantly a fantasy book you want to get your hands on. Bound by Fate is the beginning of part two but even if you start now you will find yourself wanting to head back to the beginning for all the juicy details that Mrs. Scattergood puts into all her episodes.

Always, leaving me speechless and wanting more this novella is by far my favorite in this series to date. I am defiantly hands down giving Mrs. Scattergood FIVE stars for this episode and a big high five for a job well done.

Shadow Stalker Episode 5 - Excerpt

Shadow Stalker: Destiny Reconciled Part 1 (Episode 5) Excerpt

By Renee Scattergood

The sudden change in his demeanor made me giggle. It felt good to laugh again. I wasn't sure I could.

Kado grinned. "I haven't seen any venomous plants, but keep your eyes open."

"Okay." Back to business as usual. I didn't see any of the plants either, thankfully. And there was plenty of wood around after the storm that hit a couple weeks before.

When I returned, Kado was gone. Maybe he had gone to get some wood as well, but normally he would say so. I was about to call for him when he came out of the mist nearly on top of me.

"Sorry," he said. "Just after you left, Cathnor called for me."

"Is everything okay?" I knew the answer to that question by the look on his face, but I hoped he would give me details.

"Not really, no. The council has begun sending emissaries to the other villages. I'm not sure what they're up to, yet, but I think it would be best if we avoid visiting any of the villages for the time being."

Kado didn't have to say it. It was easy to guess. Things were getting out of control.

"There's more. The Coalition has been defeated. The Galvadi Empire controls the Serpent Isles now."

Interview #2 w/ Renee Scattergood

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.

I am Renee Scattergood. I'm currently living in Australia with my husband, Nathan, and daughter, Taiya. We also have two cats, Anakin and Padme, and two guinea pigs, Prince and Sith. I have currently written four episodes in my Shadow Stalker series, which at this point is likely to be about twenty-four episodes long.

What are you working on now?

I'm currently working on Demon Hunt, which is a prequel novella to my Shadow Stalker series. It's a story about a camping trip that Kado and Auren take the year before the start of the series that goes awry when Auren accidentally releases a demon from the shadow world.

How do you come up with the titles for your books? Do you find it difficult?

Sometimes the title just pops into my head as I'm writing. If I don't have a title by the time I'm done with the first draft, I know I'm going to have a hard time with it. Generally I will try to get my story description down to one sentence and try to find a title that describes that.

Shadow Stalker: Forbidden Love (E4) Book Review

Author Renee Scattergood writes another excellent episode in Shadow Stalker: Forbidden Love (Episode 4). Forbidden Love starts where episode 3 left off; with a violent storm. New characters are introduced in episode 4, when Auren visits some of her family for the first time. She makes new friends, has some new adventures, and learns more about the Shadow People, the responsibility of the elders, and new rules.

When Auren meets a new friend, Etan, she finds herself having feelings she had never felt before. Auren and Etan find themselves attracted to each other, but is it love?

Shadow Stalker: The Hidden Truth (E1) Book Review

Shadow Stalker: The Hidden Truth, written by Renee Scattergood is by far a compelling read. This is the first time I sat down to read a serialized novel, and I had know idea what to expect.

The tail of a young girl finally graduating and becoming an adult in front of the community. The only problem Auren seems to have is trying to get her step father, Kado on the same page.

Character Interview w/ Auren Trask

Tell us a little about you and the world you reside in?

The Serpent Isles are an island chain in the far north of my world. There are other land masses, mostly islands, around the world, but we are far from any of them. We are the most advanced culture on our world as well. Some of the other islands have primitive cultures, but the other islands are not very hospitable places to live. The wildlife is much too dangerous to coexist with on some, and the climates are too harsh on others. We are not sure why our culture seemed to thrive and advance, while others that remain are so primitive, but there are legends that suggest shadow stalkers played a role in that, if you believe in such things.

Interview w/ Renee Scattergood

When did you decide you wanted to be a writer? Do you remember the exact moment you made the decision and why?

In 1995 I was going to college for film and video production, and one of the required courses was an English course that required us to do some creative writing. My instructor was so impressed with my work that he had me read it in front of the class on a couple of occasions (which I have to admit was quite horrifying for me). One day he called me up after class was over and asked me if I had ever considered getting any of my work published. I had always loved making up stories, but I never considered writing them down, and I certainly never considered I could be good enough to have something published. He got me thinking about it, though, and I started writing for fun after that. It wasn’t until a few years later that I started to consider writing more seriously.

Shadow Stalker: The Hidden Truth Book Interview

Your first publication, Shadow Stalker: The Hidden Truth is being release August 30, 2014. What can you tell us about your book without giving anything away?

Without giving anything away, all I can say is that it’s about a girl who learns a startling truth about her past, which ultimately puts her life in danger. As the series progresses, she learns that she has more enemies than friends, and finds that she has to rely on herself for survival.
